FAQ
How to get the best results with Lip Melts?
The Lip Melt undergoes a final hot-air smoothing step during filling, which creates a slightly firmer top layer. For the best first-use experience, gently glide the Lip Melt on the back of your hand. Your body heat will warm the surface, allowing the formula to soften and glide on more smoothly for a mirror-like, glassy finish.
The formula is temperature-responsive and melts upon contact: it stays solid in the tube but melts instantly with body heat and light pressure, shifting from a balm to a gloss-like texture that delivers high shine and rich color payoff.
- In colder environments, the transformation may take longer. Warming it up or applying a slightly thicker layer helps achieve stronger glow and smoother payoff.
- In warmer environments, the melt happens quickly, so a light touch is enough for a seamless, glassy finish.
If exposed to hot temperatures, refrigerate for 1-2 hours before use. Softening or oil separation may occur due to plant-based oils and waxes, which is normal and does not affect performance or safety. To avoid breakage, twist up only a small amount of product during application.
Can the Lip Melt twist back down?
Yes it does!
Because the Glassload Lip Melt formula is temperature-responsive and melts on contact with body heat, we co-developed a custom slow-twist mechanism with our manufacturing partner specifically for this product. This design keeps the formula’s softening process controlled, stable, and easy to manage during application. Compared with traditional lipstick mechanisms, our custom core offers three key advantages:
1. Short-stroke twist design: Each twist advances only a small amount of product, preventing it from being pushed out too far at once and reducing the risk of bending, breakage, or surface damage due to the formula’s naturally softer texture.
2. Precise dose control: Twisting approximately two full turns dispenses the ideal amount for a single application. This level of control perfectly complements the Lip Melt’s melt-upon-touch behavior and temperature-driven transformation.
3. Twist-back functionality: The product can be easily retracted after use, minimizing unnecessary exposure, reducing waste, and protecting the product from accidental damage.
Do Lip Melts have a mint flavor? I’m allergic to mint/menthol. Will the Lip Melt irritate my lips?
Yes, our Lip Melts contain a small amount of mint fragrance. This scent is a very light, mint-type fragrance, formulated to be as soft and subtle as possible. The fragrance is IFRA-certified and meets the latest safety standards for leave-on products, and it contains no EU-listed fragrance allergens.
The Lip Melt does not use peppermint oil, menthol, or any mint-derived essential oils. The soft cooling sensation in our formula comes from Menthoxypropanediol. This is a synthetic, low-irritation cooling ingredient, not related to mint extracts.
How it differs from mint ingredients:
- Not a peppermint extract
- Not menthol
- Has no mint smell or “minty sting”
- Much gentler and commonly used in lip care and eye-area formulas
- Typically doesn’t trigger allergies associated with peppermint or menthol.
If you know you react specifically to peppermint/menthol, this ingredient is not in the same allergen group. We also conducted a consumer study with 30 participants, and after 4 weeks of use, 100% reported that it felt gentle and non-irritating.
Lip Melts do not have any plumping or stinging effect, just a subtle, refreshing cooling feel!
